MINOTAUR INST. FOR ESTNATION has launched its SOLOTEX® PROJECT, a capsule collection centered on Teijin Frontier’s high-performance fiber SOLOTEX®. For the debut installment, the project turns its attention to washi — traditional Japanese paper — as a textile material.
The garments are woven from yarn spun with ultra-fine strips of washi, the fibrous, plant-based paper produced in Japan for over a millennium. In fabric form, this translates to exceptional breathability, quick-dry properties, and a striking lightness. The pieces — a polo shirt, a pullover, and shorts — are manufactured in Gosen, Niigata Prefecture, at a knitting factory celebrating its 67th year.
Gosen is Japan’s largest horizontal knitting production district, and the decision to manufacture there speaks to MINOTAUR INST.’s commitment to Japan’s specialist textile network. Available now at ESTNATION stores and online. https://www.minotaur.co.jp/
